Troglodytes

Troglodytes

The Troglodytes were once a peaceful tribe. Having come to terms with their containment, they lived in relative peace and harmony in a cave system in one of the many realms within the labyrinth. In their quest to destroy the labyrinth, the Mystics had stumbled upon the tribe and convinced their leaders to aid them in the destruction, with the promise of freedom. Having come to an agreement with the Mystics, the tribe was transported to the hidden realm overgrown with ancient jungles. They were tasked and directed by the Mystics to carve out the corridors and build the structures required to hail the destruction of the labyrinth.

Unaccustomed to the light, they worked tirelessly by night, initially building the sewers that would become their domicile, and later the corridors above and the various structures throughout them.

After the great war and divide of the mystical coven began, they were abandoned and left to fend for themselves with no hope for their freedom, and no way back to their realm. Now trapped in the realm and having served the mystics for seemingly nothing, they became angry, bitter and hostile toward every living thing within the realm. Laying claim to the sewers, they attack anything caught entering their domain. By night they raid and pillage the corridors above for supplies to survive, which they hoard in the sewers below. After a series of ravaging attacks against the Mystics, the covens formed magical barriers protecting the towers and the Core from the Troglodytes, making them relatively safe and possible for the remaining mystics to survive and continue their work.

The Troglodytes are extremely aggressive and tend to roam and attack in large, unrelenting packs. It is generally best to avoid them or flee when they begin showing up in large numbers. They will rapidly overwhelm anyone they are after.
